The Bridal Doll is based on a portrait by William Bourguereau - or rather, I used her as a model and she doesn't look like his Gabrielle in the least, but she sat still and that's a bonus. :) I was seeking a portrait that was very "doll-like" in appearance, as if the subject isn't alive, but is more a romantic fantasy with a very mild anime appearance. She's covered in beautiful Wisteria to signify her veil and the tones of her veil and gown. This work is mainly acrylic and soft pastel with some added digital effects for toning. The doll has an overall feeling of a girl in love. To a child this may appear dreamy and romantic, but an adult may well see the classical touch behind the whimsical, romantic portrait.
